Day 3: Little Bit Here; Little Bit There…

You’d think the tablecloth would be easy and the enamelware pan would be hard. Well, ha ha on me! I got about as far on this as I could today because everything was still quite gooey and sticky.

You’d think it would be smart to draw in the flowered patterns with pencil. Wrong! I found out years ago that pencil marks love to dissolve into oil paint, leaving grayish smudges. Ideally, I’d be lightly painting the outlines of the flowers with a thin mix of pale gray, using a thin brush. Not so easy when the background is ooey-gooey. Yah, yah — complain, complain!

Someday the skies will be clear. Flowers will be blooming. And the oil paint will be dry….
