A big ice storm has been forecast for this area. Everybody’s been hunkered down, waiting for all hell to break lose. I woke up this morning, considering changing the store-bought tulips into parrot tulips, which are far gaudier. I love gaudy (as if you didn’t know by now), but I thought why make things harder for myself? I’d much rather hold something in my hand, get a good look at it, and paint it that way, as opposed to trying to figure out what’s happening in a photograph. So the poor, store-bought tulips will just have to do. Next year I’ll plant some parrot tulips in the yard and use them. Of course I’ll have to put up a deer cage around them or they’ll be chewed to nubs in a flash.
