Sunflowers

The scene: September 26, 2019.

I finally got around to finishing my sunflower painting. I did about 98% of it en plein air, set up out in my front yard. Then we had a few weeks of rain. Plus it’s always a mad-scramble to put away lawn furniture, set up deer cages, etc., when fall comes. So this painting got stashed away in the studio while I tended to details.

Here it is, mid-November, 12″ of snow out there — and I finally got around to finishing this. Had to use my imagination on some of it. The frame is a lucky find from a consignment shop. Next year I’ll try to get started a little earlier on any sunflower paintings.
