Deer Tracks up Hillside

“Deer Tracks up Hillside” – plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8×10″ by Margie Guyot

I love looking at deer tracks in the snow! This was a steep hillside along Youngdyke Road (just north of M88 out of Eastport). While painting this, I noticed a commotion to the right. There was an old, wild apple tree covered with a huge bittersweet vine. A flock of starlings had discovered it and were gorging themselves. I wish I could have gotten a better closeup shot, but it was the best I could do with my little hand-held point & shoot.

Happy birdies! It’s always an adventure, going out painting!
