A Beautiful Day

My setup along Guyer Creek….

I had to leave my studio painting dry a bit more for another day. The sun was shining! A rare thing here in northern Michigan. I set up my easel in back of the studio, next to the creek. I’ve painted this many times but it still fascinates me.

Then I walked along the driveway and found this site. I’m always very interested in the composition, the design, the “flow” of things. I liked how the shadows looked and the colors of the tree trunks and pine needles. Here’s my setup:

I painted fast as I could, knowing the shadows would change quicker than you could ever imagine. While I painted, the deer were chowing down in my driveway….
