
Robert Bateman spoke of “echoing the curves”. He showed us how the branches in his painting repeated the curves of his deer. So in this painting I’m using some leaves of night-blooming cereus to echo the curve of the bobcat’s tail.
And what painting couldn’t use another lion?

I took a head-clearing break at one point today to go out and shovel all the paths. It took over two hours. I wanted to be sure to clear the Swamp Path. Summery temperatures (up to 40!) were expected and I wanted to have a clear path out to the creek. I just might want to celebrate finishing this painting in a few days by doing a plein air of the creek. Here’s Picasso, making sure all is well:
