My goal this morning was to paint a “very interesting dismal” landscape. As opposed to a “very boring dismal” one. Alas — I searched for miles and could find only boring, pathetic, predictable views. Then I settled on this scene of the little pond at Norwood. In summer there’s a raft that’s usually covered in dozens of turtles sunning themselves. As I painted, a raccoon appeared and was very occupied with something in the lawn. He didn’t notice me until I started disassembling the easel. Then it started raining, so that was the extent of my “interesting dismal” views today. Sigh….there’s always housework I could do…
