Iris Season

Drying in my windowsill.

Finally — the snow’s melted and the iris are blooming! I had an iris-painting marathon this week. They’re all in oil, measuring 6×6″. Many are varieties from the Iris Farm, west of Traverse City. Alas, it’s now closed. It used to be a popular spot to spend the day picnicking, painting — or just walking around in a daze. Every year I’d go, meaning to just look and enjoy – and not buy anything but sure enough — I’d buy more and more. Here’s a photo of the good old days there. Can you imagine the smell?
