“Rusty and His Giant Sunflower”

“Rusty and His Giant Sunflower” — oil on canvas 18 x 24″ by Margie Guyot

A man of many talents, Rusty raises Scottish Black-Face Sheep, fancy chickens (? pheasants? some kind of bird!), plays a variety of musical instruments, has lived all over the world, and is famous around here for his vast dahlia garden. Just to name a few attributes. Bordering his vast dahlia patch are the most humongous sunflowers I’ve ever seen. Monsters! Last fall friends and I were strolling the dahlias, ooing and aahing when I snapped this photo. The other morning I woke up, seeing it in my mind, thinking I need to paint this!
