Day 2: Why Paint Socks?

Why not paint socks? The other morning I saw a pile on my washing machine, laid out to dry. So I thought it’d be kind of fun to see if I could do kind of an abstract painting with socks. I get bored painting the same thing all the time. It’s kind of a challenge to paint a good, wadded-up sock! And it’s a challenge to come up with a pleasing composition. So we’ll see what happens.

Here’s my setup:

Picasso in his usual spot.

Earlier today I’d let Mr. Wonderful (cat #2 — the one the neighbors hate) into the studio and of course the first place he went was to the pile of socks, where he laid down in the middle. Didn’t have my camera, darn it!

Took a break and planted onion starts this afternoon. ‘Tis a shame to waste a rare sunny day. And menial tasks help clear the mind. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
