With all the upsetting happenings in the world these days, I wanted to make a happy, bright, sunny painting. But it’s been dark and dreary here for days. Fortunately, I’ve done so many plein air field studies, I was able to fake a reasonable facsimile. I had a small cloud study in the back room that I used as a reference. It may surprise people, but there really isn’t any true white in clouds. Don’t believe me? Next time you see big, puffy “white” clouds, hold up a sheet of white paper and compare. Same thing with white roses. You’d never notice these things until you started trying to paint them.
And here’s Picasso, my little painting buddy.
