We had an unusually sunny day here, flooding my painting surface with blazing light. Sounds fabulous, but it’s awful. Makes it next to impossible to see what I’m doing with all that glare and sparkly stuff trying to blind me. I’d considered bundling up to go out plein air painting, but didn’t. The high today was something like 10 degrees. And few galleries up here actually want plein air winter paintings. It’s basically a “barns and boats-on-the-water” type area. So I trudged around in the yard, frustrated, exploring for whatever caught my eye. My yard’s quite a deer highway. Here’s a snippet of their tracks. See why I have to put cages around everything? Deer will chew everything they can get their teeth into.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll declare this painting “finished”.
