When you’re used to endless days of cloudy skies, when the sun finally comes out, it’s actually kind of annoying. To a still-life painter, anyway. Everything looks totally different. I worked on this a little while, then loaded up the truck with plein air gear and went out to paint something. It was that — or wash floors. Ha ha.

It was pretty cold and windy, so I wimped out and sat inside my truck to paint this view. In the distance, across Grand Traverse Bay, is the little village of Northport. The clouds finally moved in just as I finished this, so I went back to the studio and fussed with the still life a bit. The floors remain dirty.
