“Burns Road — Late Day” — plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8 x 10″ by Margie Guyot

After having spent weeks (months?) painting difficult and complicated still lifes, when I finally found this spot and started painting, I felt like I’d died and gone to heaven! I’d been driving east on Old State Road, heading towards Central Lake, when I glanced at Burns Road. Ah — those shadows! I had to do a U-turn and go back to paint it. Actually I think Burns Road is really some guy’s long driveway. I painted fast and furious, hoping to get it all in before the spots of sunlight disappeared. I really enjoyed being out there and painting this afternoon!
