“Pink Zinnias”

Ach! What a challenge this one was! But it’s fun to have a good struggle. The zinnias are silk: a great find at a resale shop. Maybe next year I’ll plant some. The owl patio lights are ancient. I had to pretty them up a bit for the painting. In reality they were falling apart. missing chunks. Just too cute to throw out, though. You’d think the worst thing to try to paint would have been that ruffly glass bowl on the left. Well, it was horrid. But no — it was the fabric. Two crazy pieces of fabric with complicated designs. Oh brother! There was a time a few years ago when I considered that yellow metal basket (in the back) to be next to impossible. As I always say, solving painting problems sure beats doing housework! I might reward myself for finishing this by spending the rest of the afternoon in the hammock, reading….

  1. As you know, my favorite parts are the pink, blue, and green glass. When I see your paintings, I always look for the glass. You have such a talent!!
