White Roses

“White Roses” — oil on canvas 18 x 18″ by Margie Guyot

These white roses were still looking good after a week, so yesterday afternoon I decided to try painting them again. Roses are tricky! Far too easy to make them look like concrete! At the end of the day I photographed my setup but had a nagging feeling the background was too pale:

See how the roses seem to disappear into the background? This morning I decided to darken things up a bit. I think it helped. And now….. I’m going out to prune peach trees!
