Heat Wave

“Thawing Field” — plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8 x 10″ by Margie Guyot

Had the hots to go out painting again today. Our snow has been melting in the heat wave (about 40 degrees). And it was raining. So I sat inside the nice, warm, dry truck and painted this view of the corner of Farrell Road and Bennett Road.

Earlier I saw this gang of male turkeys along Bennett Hill Road. Those are the guys who didn’t win the job of “king turkey”. They didn’t get their girlfriends and looked quite dejected.

I’m not a big fan of painting from photographs, but since I snapped this one myself, I just might try. It’s a long winter ahead and there are only so many paintings of creeks and thawing fields I care to do.
