Trout Stream in Winter #2

“Trout Stream in Winter #2” –– plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8 x 16″ by Margie Guyot

There’s nothing like doing paperwork and cleaning out closets to bring out the desire to go plein air painting! Once again I schlepped my gear out to the little creek that runs in back of my studio. Yes, it was a tad chilly, but at least it wasn’t windy. That’s one of the many dead ash trees that have toppled over. The cedar and white pines seem to be doing OK, thank goodness. I’ve planted more tamaracks and willows back there, hoping they’ll help suck up some of the moisture. It’s pretty wild back there. I’ve seen weasels, bobcats, fox and plenty of deer. My cats follow me when I go out there but they keep close tabs on Momcat. Today all of them were snoozing in the house while I painted.

My setup this afternoon.
