Along the Crystal River

“Along the Crystal River” — plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8 x 10″ by Margie Guyot

My friend Lori and I decided to escape the rat-race for a day and escape to Glen Arbor. Of course we were armed with our painting gear! But what to paint in that little town, crawling with tourists? We found quiet, shady spots to set up along the Crystal River.

Having sat untouched for years, a large building had been slowly falling into disrepair. But no more: work crews were fixing this up. What will it be? A restaurant/hotel? This is the view I painted from across the river.
