Potato Salad

“Potato Salad” — oil on canvas 24 x 24″ by Margie Guyot

Progress on this one was interrupted last weekend by the plein air painting competition of Glen Arbor (plus participation in an art fair in East Jordan). But the good thing about still lifes is that they usually just sit there, waiting. Unless you have living things in them, like this parsley, which I “invented” to help create a swirling, circling flow to the composition.

Hands fascinate me. Some people are “into” feet; for me it’s hands. Ideas are swirling around in my head for more paintings with hands. Maybe a whole fantasy-series of potato salad paintings….
