Banks Township Park Road – Winter

“Banks Township Park Road – Winter” — plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8 x 10″ by Margie Guyot

We all consult the weather forecast up here in winter and plan our jaunts into town accordingly. Several springlike days with temperatures up into the 40’s have spoiled us. Now we’re bracing for “a big snowstorm” again. Like most everybody and his brother, a friend and I buzzed felt it necessary to buzz up to Petoskey today. I didn’t get back until later in the afternoon but was riding high on a coffee-buzz. The light was great and I hated to waste it. This little road leads right down to an itty-bitty park on the shore of Lake Michigan. Just south of Norwood. What did I love most here? The melting snow and sunlight patterns across the road, of course! Tomorrow it’ll all look different.
