As I was finishing up this still life in the studio, the sun made a surprising appearance. After weeks of winter gloom and clouds, when the sun finally peeks out, it’s almost annoying. I perked up with a cup of hi-test coffee and went out plein air painting.

It was about 17 degrees. There’s no sense in suffering needlessly, so I parked along Bennett Hill Road in between Farrell Road and Church Road and sat inside the nice, warm truck to paint this. I liked the blue shadows in the background and the warm-white, sunny spots on the snow. I’d honestly planned on doing more paintings but the clouds rolled back in. Darn! Decided to come home and have a nice, hot sauna. Life is so hard….
