New Year’s Day Plein Airs

Setup for “Arctic Willow – New Year’s Day”

The blizzards have stopped. The roads plowed. Sun came out –and so did I. On my trek out to visit the orchard and berry patches, I noticed the arctic willow bush. Ah — such interesting globs! I had to paint it – just for the fun of it. Little chickadees flew in to sit here, chattering back and forth. Maybe they were scolding me?

As I turned to put things away, I noticed the sky to the west had those wonderful “polka-dotty” clouds. Ah! I had to do a quickie of that, too. Again, just for the fun of it.

  1. Beautiful work! Are both sunset paintings the same. The top one looks so much darker. Is it just the light at the time of photo? I love the globs!
