S. Peebles Road

“South Peebles Road” — plein air field study — oil on birch panel 8 x 10″ by Margie Guyot

South Peebles Road is another favorite road of mine. Mostly it’s a seasonal road, impossible to drive on in winter. Nobody plows it. It winds through apple orchards and thick maple woods, coming out onto an area of open farm fields. Just beyond this spot, down the hill is another favorite road: Toad Lake Road. And yes, there is a Toad Lake. I’ve been meaning to take my kayak out on it. Maybe next spring. Behind where I stood to paint this is a wild apple tree, right at the bend of the road. I stopped to do a taste-test. Actually quite a good apple!
