Sunflowers & Imagination

Day One…

A couple days ago I watched “At Eternity’s Gate”, a film about Vincent van Gogh. Once again I was reminded of his amazing, colorful sunflower paintings. Most likely that’s why I scooped some up in the flower shop today. It was kind of a strange film, directed by Julian Schnabel. Lots of shots of Vincent’s feet trudging through the weeds. Blurry shots. Long, confusing blackouts. WTF??? Willem Dafoe was most excellent as Vincent, but I thought the film could have used some astute editing.

Not sure where I’m going with this painting yet as far as the background goes, but I’m sure I’ll wake up at 2 or 3 AM with a great idea….
