“Sunny Caladiums”

“Sunny Caladiums” — oil on canvas 24×48″ by Margie Guyot

This was “fun, but kind of a pain-in-the-ass”. Lots of details in those leaves. I was glad to have days of sunshine to paint this. The strong rays hit the bright orange fabric and bounced warm tones up onto the backside of the leaves. I painted like a fiend the first day, trying to draw in as many of the leaves as possible, since I knew they’d change positions, following the sun every day.

I was fortunate to have encouragement (and protection) from my wonderful cats, Bobby (the bobcat), Picasso and Mr. Kitters. Thanks to my dear babies, I never have to worry about being eaten by mice.
