The other day I went out in search of a colorful spot to paint. Here it is, the 3rd week of October and the bright yellows and reds are finally showing. Alas – with the colors also comes the rain. And quite changeable! It can be sunny one minute and pouring rain the next.
Clark Road is one of our seasonal roads, winding up and down through the ridges. I’d never been down this one before. It’s somewhere east of East Torch Lake Drive. Quite beautiful — maybe 2 miles long. But seasonal roads can be rather rough. I’ve got a 4WD vehicle, but still, I’m cautious. My car’s GPS showed the road crossing a small stream up ahead. But where was the bridge? Nada. Just some deep ruts. Ach! Not for me! I backed up, turned around and slowly headed back. Then I saw this lovely spot and pulled over to paint.
Good thing I work fast! Right as I was finishing up, the rain started. I’ll have to visit Clark Road again. Here’s my setup:

The colors are beautiful! You are brave to go off the beaten path and get out to paint.
Good for you!

I do like to explore! But sometimes I do get a little creeped-out. I started carrying pepper spray in my pocket whenever I go outside.
