“The Birth of Cherry Pie” (with apologies to Botticelli) — oil on board 36×48″ (approx.) by Margie Guyot
Every July there’s the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City and I shamelessly borrowed Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” to paint something along the line of the cherry festival. It was quite a challenge to paint. All those folds in fabric! The hair! And the toes! Botticelli must have had a toe/foot fettish. But I had a good time with it.
I found the perfect frame for it last month on FB Marketplace. Heavy, carved wood — no plastic:

It is perfect. Was this for a particular event – or just “because you wanted to paint it?”
You mentioned a commission several times. Did we ever see it? … or is it still under wraps?

The National Cherry Festival is held in Traverse City, MI every July. Kind of a big deal around here.
The commission — it’s a surprise BD present, so I don’t dare post it until after the person receives it. Patience, dear Roomie!
