Christmas Day in the Swamp

My favorite way to spend any holiday — painting! When I was little, I got paint-by-numbers for Christmas. This view is looking out my north studio window. A few years back, the emerald ash borers killed all the ash trees, so there are places with lots of logs on the ground. With fewer trees to suck up the water, the ground became a sort of swamp. Still, I love being here. The air is clean, it’s very quiet and woodsy and Lake Michigan is just a hoot away. Guyer Creek runs right through my property. Paradise!
