Plein Air in a Car?

I had the itch to get out and paint again today. And snow’s imminent. So — any excuse to sit inside a nice, warm car and paint! I assume this could still be considered “en plein air” — it was painted from life, not in a studio, not from a photo.

A forlorn-looking farmhouse at the corner of Bennett Hill Road and Church Road. Makes me think of the pioneers in their sod huts out on the Plains, howling winds, blowing snow, no hot showers. Note the foreboding clouds.

From there I returned to another favorite haunt around here: a lonely swamp on Brandt Road, off Old Dixie Highway. Here’s my setup. Ach! Very cramped! Next time I’m getting a roomier car….
