  1. Ha ha! Thank you! Well, my paintings usually go through “quite dismal” stages up until right at the end when they usually come up good at the end. I sometimes have to remind myself of that. As I’ve said before, the key to making a good painting is learning to control your panic.

    Years ago when I was at a Clyde Aspevig workshop, he’d been doing a demo when he turned around and said, “This is at the stage where most beginners would stop — but I know how to fix it.” And with a few brush strokes — voila! — he simplified the clouds and it made all the difference.
