Slough Road – Summer Afternoon

“Slough Road – Summer Afternoon” — plein air field study in oil on wood panel 8×10″ by Margie Guyot

It was good to get out and paint today. Sort-of warm, not too breezy, sort-of sunny. Slough Road, east of Ellsworth, is one of my favorite spots to paint. Unless it’s in mud season. Then it’s to be avoided! I ventured down there one time during the spring thaw and if I hadn’t had 4WD low, I’d never have made it up that hill. Yet there are people living along it.

I parked under the shade of a row of bass trees. There was quite a collection of deer and raccoon hieroglyphs left from the big rain here a week or so ago:

And here’s my setup. I only did 1 today because the clouds were taking over again.
