“Skinny Dippin'”

“Skinny Dippin'” — oil on canvas 60×48″ by Margie Guyot

A few weeks ago I’d seen a call for entries with the theme “Fins & Feathers”. Hmmm — I knew I had a painting of a roadkill owl and somewhere I had a fish painting, but I wanted to do something really different. As usual, my muse generally talks to me at 2 AM. This time I saw what I had to do: a G-rated self-portrait, nude, only G-rated. Native fish would be surrounding me in strategic spots. What could be better than that?

When I told a few friends I was starting a nude self-portrait, they gave me the strangest looks.

Painting fish? Easy! I’ve collected lots of taxidermied specimens over the years. But what was the most difficult was painting my face! Oy!

So now, dear reader, gardening season is beginning, so my posts will be somewhat fewer. Shovels and wheelbarrows will be my tools most of the time. But never fear: I’ll be baaaaaaaaack…..
