For days I’ve been itching to get out and do a landscape, but it’s been overcast 99,99% of the time here. And when the sun peeks out, it hides behind the clouds faster than you can say Jack Robinson. Finally this afternoon I threw my gear into the truck and drove down the road, determined to paint something. Brant Road is north of here about 3 miles and gets almost no traffic, so I pulled off to the side. I’ve become fairly adept at painting from inside my little Ford Ranger, although it is a bit cramped. Yes, I’ve painted out in the cold many times — even during blizzards — but why suffer needlessly? That’s Grand Traverse Bay in the distance.
