While waiting for my frog painting to dry enough to do some touch-ups, I bought some red roses the other day and started laying in a new still life. This is Day 2. I was too tired yesterday to post anything. Right now it’s at the stage where I wake up in the morning and can hardly wait to get out to the studio.
I’ve found it helpful to make color charts of every tube of paint I have. Then it’s easy to figure out what to use. Janet Fish (the greatest still life painter) once said still life painters need just about every shade of red there is. Truth! Some colors just can’t be mixed. Lots of shades of blue are good, too.

OK, if you’re really wondering how Day 1 looked…..
