The big Deep Freeze has returned to northwest Michigan. Highs in the teens. ‘Tis the season for the ice pyramids to start forming along the Great Lakes shorelines. I grew up in Iowa. I’d never seen such things. For the first few years after I’d moved up north, I’d grab my easel and paints and clamber up on top of pyramids and paint happily away. Until I found out how dangerous they were:
