Practicing Portraits

My friend Cal suggested a wonderful book, “Lessons in Masterful Portrait Drawing” by Mau-Kun Yim and Iris Yim. As a music major, we didn’t study portrait drawing very much, so today I thought it would be a good idea to see if I could learn anything from this book. Had to hunt for my old sketchbook (which I couldn’t find). Yes, yes — the lower lip and chin are not quite right, but the eraser was from about 1985 and wouldn’t erase. Excuses, excuses.

I’ll try to practice portrait drawing every day. As they say, the first 10,000 are the hardest.
