Windfall

Have you ever been in the mood to go painting — but failed to see anything interesting enough to paint? That was me yesterday. Finally I took a stroll out into the swamp to see how things looked after our last big windstorm. And there it was: a big ash tree had fallen across the creek. Notice how shallow the roots are? We’d had 50 mph winds rip through a week ago and this was one of many trees that toppled over.
