Orchids on a Mussed-Up Cloth

“Orchids on a Mussed-Up Cloth” — oil on canvas 24 x 30″ by Margie Guyot

After struggling with this for several dark, gloomy days the sun came out and wow — I could see colors! It’s been a tough one. Wrinkled cloth fascinates me, but it’s not easy. Especially when you have a cat or two that wants to rearrange things. And blossoms drop off. Or face the wrong way. I wanted to say the hell with it and go shopping today, but I stuck with it. It’s amazing how bright sunlight brings out the colors and reflections! I’d been using viridian and white for the turquoise color, but today I added Vasari turquoise for a more intense color. Zapped up the yellows, too. I could probably peck away on this a couple more days, but tomorrow’s supposed to be dark and rainy again. Ah — let’s go shopping!
