It’s that rug that inspired me. I’d found it in a flea market a couple years ago. It’s been upstairs in the bathroom. A couple nights ago Bernie Sanders, my Siamese cats, woke me up, diving and cavorting in the bathroom, pushing this rug all around the floor. I thought why not paint this? As I picked it up to take out to the studio, I found a dead, squashed mouse underneath! I’m sure I was the one who’d stepped on it. If I hadn’t picked up the rug to paint it, that mouse would have liquified. Oh joy! So — things have a way of working out!
After carefully drawing in the major shapes, I followed my #1 rule: if it’s going to rot or die, paint it first!
I enjoy your photos of your initial drawings and the magic wand hard work it takes to finish th eff m!

Thanks! Sometimes they look pretty awful in the beginning and I hesitate to show them! Hah!
