“Blue Pitcher”

“Blue Pitcher” — oil on canvas 36 x 36″ by Margie Guyot

For me, still life paintings are often very symbolic. For me, they seem to represent the “current struggles” going on in the world. My own life is actually quite happy these days. Retirement is good. I love where I live. I drink good coffee and drive a decent vehicle. What more could one ask? It’s the current events going on in the world – the political chaos, the struggles of humanity, the environmental disasters – that seem to show up (symbolically) in my paintings. Years ago I figured that if I could create my own little world in a painting – and solve its many problems — at least I did my part! Hah!
