Sunflowers

“Edge of the Sunflower Field” — plein air field study in oil on birch panel 8 x 16″ by Margie Guyot

It was a dark and stormy night…. Sorry! I couldn’t resist. It HAD been a dark and stormy night. My friend Lori and I decided to take a chance anyway and meet at the Maple Conservancy Center, just north of Traverse City. The clouds looked far too interesting to ignore, so I included them in my paintings.

Finding a nice, shady spot is important!

Every year these fields are a popular spot for artists, photographers and sunflower enthusiasts. I always wonder how the farmers are able to keep the deer away. When I plant sunflowers, the deer mow them right down.
