
The urge to do a surreal painting has stuck again. Compared to plein air landscapes, still lifes and portraits, surreal paintings are the most difficult for me. Figuring out what to put in and where to put it is kind of a nightmare. Surreal paintings always have an underlying meaning (at least for me). I usually wake up in the middle of the night, seeing bits of what I need to paint. I’ll lay there in the dark, realizing what they symbolism means, how it relates to my life experiences.
