Day 3: That Doggone Sun…

Sunlight is a rare thing in the winter here. When we finally get a sunny day, I find it kind of annoying. If you’re a painter, trying to paint a still life in a studio, it changes everything drastically. This is what I had to look at all day (above). OK, yes, it’s pretty, but all the shadows, colors and highlights are completely different.

So I did what I could, giving the cloth area a stain of gold and tightening up the designs on the basket.

And my dear, old cat, Picasso kept me company all day…

Any luck with the rat traps, you ask? For those of you who’d seen yesterday’s post, I showed a pair of rat traps set up inside, hoping to catch the pesky squirrel who’s been chewing up paintings. Well, no luck. So I set some mouse traps out this afternoon, right next to the bird feeder that I have to bring in every night. Keep your fingers crossed!
