I thought I’d post a few paintings from “ICE”, the upcoming show at Crooked Tree Arts Center, Petoskey, Michigan. There will be about 30 of my little plein air paintings and the rest of the show will feature works from one of our area’s photographers. The show opens in mid-January, running through mid-February.

I got to retire early from Ford Motor Company when they shut out plant and sent our cars to Mexico. I moved up north, right off Lake Michigan. I’d grown up in Iowa and was used to rivers and ponds, so I was quite excited to live in this area. Right after I moved, there was a blizzard and of course I had to rush down to the lake and paint! I remember holding onto my easel with one hand the whole time so it wouldn’t blow over. I stood right at the shoreline, the waves crashing over my boots, ice particles stinging my face…. It was heavenly!
