Day 4 on this one. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved pumpkins. Way back then, the only pumpkins we ever saw were the regular, old-fashioned orange ones. And selecting the “perfect” pumpkin always required several trips to various sellers. Probably Dad was checking for the best price. My sister & I got to pick out our own — and we were picky. I remember carving them in the basement, using clamshells to scoop out the “guts”. So I have many fond memories of pumpkins. And zowiee! So many new varieties these days to choose from! The common name for this one I’m painting is the “peanut” pumpkin.
Anyway — this painting is a challenge. But aren’t they all? I’m happy to have something to work on inside a nice, warm, dry studio. Lots of rain and chilly weather out there now.
