2 More Before the Rain…

“Where McGeach Creek Empties into Lake Michigan” — plein air field study in oil on wood panel 8×10″ by Margie Guyot

We’ve been warned about the cold rain coming, so I made sure I went out painting today. First stop was Fisherman’s Island State Park, just south of Charlevoix. I love that place! I should go more often. I’m drawn to scenes where creeks empty into the lake. Super-hard! Just try painting something that’s constantly moving and changing colors! But views like this mystify me.

Here’s my setup:

From there I headed back home, stopping at another lakeside park: Norwood Beach. I was getting tired, so I slapped this one out relatively quickly:

I’m a sucker for roads. And I’d found a shady spot to stand in. So that’s my excuse…. And here’s my setup:
