Another Gorgeous Day…

“Bennett Road” — plein air field study in oil on board 8×16″ by Margie Guyot

A bit chilly here, but otherwise perfect! This scene is only about 2 miles from my house. I think this is the first time I’ve ever attempted to paint it. The Queen Anne’s lace is in full glory and the grasses are just beginning to turn into the rusty-brown-hay tones. Wonderful clouds today.

After this, I stopped back home to make a cup of coffee and check on my cats. My oldest (and smartest) cat, Picasso, had a bit of a tussle with a raccoon about a month ago and I hesitate leaving him out in the yard when I’m gone. Thankfully, he was OK. From there I took off to another seasonal road, only about 1 mile away…

Maple Hill Road, another “seasonal road” is like a roller coaster ride — it travels between two ridges that are quite steep. I have an elderly friend I sometimes give joy rides to and this road brings out shrieks from her! On one side of the road it’s just woods; on the other side there’s an ancient cherry orchard. The farmer ripped all his trees up this summer and it looks very sad. He’ll replant with newer varieties next spring. Still, it looks sad.
