It was the most beautiful day here: blue sky, temperature in the 70’s, low humidity. My Japanese tree lilac is in full bloom — and whatta smell! And the mock orange is loaded with blossoms. A perfect day to be outside painting landscapes. But no — I’d started this one yesterday and had to get in there and figure it out! That’s the way a still life often is to me — like a siren calling: come here! Paint these grapes! Figure out these colors! What shape is this? etc., etc….
It’s about time I painted one with Mr. Wonderful in it. Every day he loves to come into the studio and sleep on my still life setups. But would he hold a pose? Hah! So it is a bit challenging.
Here’s a quickie I snapped of him this afternoon. A very spoiled boy….
