Day 1- In a dry studio….

Finally got the garden and yard pretty much under control. I feel guilty every start of summer, not painting. But I realized years ago that if I don’t take care of things at the beginning of summer, then all I’ll end up with is a big weed patch.

Today was a great day to start a new still life inside. It was rainy and about 52 degrees. I suppose I could have gone out and painted, sitting in my car. But dark, dreary weather is best for still lifes in a dry (even if not that warm) studio.

What drew me to this combination were the echoes of polka-dots and the orange color. Two cheery things — which we all need right now.
